The mountain pastures returns to Annecy this Saturday, October 8th
, 2022 from 9 am to 6 pm. Artisanal animations, tastings and parades are on the agenda! On this occasion, Le Pélican proposes you "The Plate of the Mountain Pastures' Return" to be found at Ô Bon Bec
The history of the Mountain Pastures' Return
Since the Middle Ages, a tradition has persisted: that of the return from the mountain pastures. At the beginning of each autumn, the herds of animals come down from the meadows to mark the end of summer and this day is celebrated by the locals. The breeders dress the animals in their finest finery: bells, flowers, ribbons and do the same with traditional Savoyard costumes. A folk festival which honours the old trades while offering craft animations and tasting of local products between two parades.
This event, organised since 1973 by the city of Annecy and the Annecy Traditions association, is a real return to its roots. Every year, the volunteers prepare this great festival with the same passion and enthusiasm and it shows! More and more visitors and locals are coming on the second Saturday of October to attend and the Groupe PVG will obviously be there.
Saturday, 8th October from 9 am to 6 pm in Old Town
Parads of animals from 2.30 pm
Local products at the hotel Le Pélican and "The Plate of the Mountain Pastures' Return"
To celebrate Savoyard craftsmanship and traditions around an authentic moment of sharing, the hotel Le Pélican proposes you all weekend long "The Plate of the Mountain Pastures' Return" : a selection of 4 cheeses and 2 different charcuteries to treat you on this Saturday of descent from the mountain pastures, at the special price of €20. Reblochon fermier, crémeux des cimes, Beaufort d'été, Persillé de Tarentaise, filet de mignon de coche and Gor'ion dress up this plate with a Savoyard accent. This board can be accompanied by a glass of Mondeuse! And to extend the return of the mountain pastures, this offer is available from Friday 7th to Monday 10th October inclusive.
A mixed aperitif of carefully chosen products in keeping with Le Pélican's locavore values. At the Ô Bon Bec restaurant, the cheeses are selected by the Duboloz, the charcuterie from Maison Baud is lovingly sliced on the spot and the bread is as local as it gets, kneaded and baked on the floor below by Vincent and Laurianne, at the Ô Bon Pain bakery! In short, good products that are just waiting for you 😊
